I preferred not bringing one but since I have so many layers in my hair I had to. A lot of hair straighteners are not dual voltage and I didn't want to purchase a converter because those don't always work and I didn't want to risk my expensive hair straightener to break. When I tried this hair straighter, yes it did heat up fast and was quite hot. However it pulled out a lot of my hair. It doesn't glide well and the plates don't fully bind together so it doesn't straighten nicely. It was not worth the price for what it does. Using this hair straightener made me more appreciative of the one I have. If your looking for a hair straightener to take with you when you travel get a Hot N Silky Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1" its dual voltage and super smooth when going through your hair. ### ⭐⭐ Pulls my hair *by N***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2013* Perhaps I've gotten too used to my Solia professional grade flat iron (which sadly is only US voltage), but this one didn't glide smoothly through my hair and it took multiple passes to flatten my thin hair.
