## Description

Product Description Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt co-star in Alan J. Pakula's hit about about a New York cop and an Irishterrorist who face the ultimate danger when their lives intersect. desertcart.com Any movie starring Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford has got to be worth seeing, right? That's as close to a guarantee as this well-meaning thriller ever gets, however, and the talents of Pitt and Ford are absolutely vital in making any sense out of this dramatically muddled scenario. Ostensibly the movie's about an IRA terrorist (Pitt) who escapes from British troops in Belfast and travels to New York City, where he stays in the home of a seasoned cop (Ford) who has no idea of the terrorist's true identity. (Why a veteran cop would host a complete stranger in his home is one of those shaky details you're better off not thinking about.) But while Pitt's passionate character waits to make an arms deal for his IRA compatriots back in Ireland, The Devil's Own conveniently avoids any detailed understanding of the Northern Ireland conflict, focusing instead on the cop's moral dilemma when he discovers that his young guest is a terrorist. The film is superbly acted, and overall it's quite worthwhile, but don't look to it for an abundance of plot logic or an in-depth understanding of Protestant-Catholic tensions in Northern Ireland. (For that, take a look at In the Name of the Father or the underrated historical biopic Michael Collins.) --Jeff Shannon.

Review: Great movie - Amazing movie with wonderful performances from Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford and also a great look into the amazing Irish Republican Army.
Review: HUMAN FRIENDSHIP PLUS A LOT OF GOOD ACTION - I would want to begin by saying I like Alan J. Pakula, the director very much. He made great movies like and so on. The good thing is he is both good at romantic movies and thrillers. This one is both thriller and a human drama with human relationship between Brad Pit and Harrison Ford. They both are amazing in this movie. Honestly I didn't liked Brad's acting that much before since he always acted like a little bit idiot in some way. But in this movie he was totally different. He was a gentle, handsome, suffering, innocent guy who sometimes is brutal as well. Kind of complex figure. He is an IRA and there's something going on between him and them so he came to the US. Harrsion on the other hand is a cop who is nothing but a streight one. He just can't do anything that is against the law. They become friends and really close. The relationship between two are really interesting and that make us to watch this movie with delight through out. when the IRA comes to the Harrison's house to kill Brad, the trouble begins. The relationship between Harrion and Brad become shattered. There are fare amount of action as well that make you satisfy as well. Alan, the director is good at that. The location in the Ireland and the US is well compared and good to watch. This movie can be compared to Tony Scott's Spygame since both actors are in both movies. Tonny's movie is a failure since it's boring and there's no human's heart but this movie has a lot of love in it. I was made with the director's soul. You will truely enjoy this movie if you want to see human friendship story in it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Gift from the Movie Gods
*by C***C on April 15, 2012*

The Devil's Own is the kind of taut, well-paced action thriller that a viewer can sit back and enjoy-until it moves you to the edge of your seat. For some reason, Brad Pitt does his best work wirh older alpha males like Harrison Ford added to the mix. No movie can ever explain the historical complexities of an epoch like The Troubles. This movie does, however, do what the movies do at their best-show that there are no simple answers to complex problems. Harrison Ford as New York Irish cop, Tom O' Meara, welcomes Frankie McGuire (Brad Pitt) into his family as a boarder from the old country, not knowing that he is an IRA operative and assassin. Frankie has seen things that children should not see in the struggle between Irish Catholics and Protestants in Belfast. This is vividly displayed in the movie's opening scene. Frankie is emotionally scarred for life when his father meets a violent end in a place that is normally every child's final refuge. His cold, handsome eyes reflect the trauma throughout the remainder of the movie. Bringing danger into an innocent happy home is an effective dramatic device that will engage the viewer without fail. And the gradual revelation, and its realization by a credulous Harrison Ford, is developed well. Treat Williams is excellent as an amoral arms dealer. He generates the kind of dislike that any audience member can feel, even if they find the plot confusing. Williams gives the kind of performance here that shows the unfulfilled potential he appeared to have when he first appeared in the movies. Pitt's death scene is one of the best in quite a while. It's done with a poignant machismo which returns the audience to the movie's beginning. There are things that are not fit for a child's eyes. Exposing him to them creates the product of the devil's work as reflected in a dying, grown man's, eyes.
