By simple, the button on the side has to be held as the user places it on the wall. Then slide left or right to find a stud. It will beep as it locates the start of the stud and continue with the beep and green light until the end of that found stud - left or right - depending on direction. The one challenge is if the user places the finder on a stud it will not recognize it as a stud and the user will have to slide left or right off and back to mark it.
