The flaps work very well, and even by themselves with a light wind. Don’t expect them to fully open for your application. They will only open enough to break the negative side air created by the exhaust fan. **Q: I will be using this with out a fan. Does it have a manually propped open option?** A: No, it takes either negative air or suction pressure to open but you can use your hand to open blades then prop it open if you like. The intent is to stay closed unless relieving negative pressure . **Q: Can it be mounted in other than a vertical orientation? I'm looking to install on a diagonal (approximately 45 degree / negative pressure above)** A: What are you going to use to open it a fan? I would also pay attention to water proofing for a non vertical orientation.. It has one main bus bar that opens all of the louvers at once **Q: Does the lever on the back attach and move all of the louvers at the same time?** A: Yes! The lever is attached to all the louvres. I use my fan to open mine I do not have anything attached to the lever.
