Thank you** A: They shouldn't. I use it on tan cowhide and it doesn't leave any marks. I think it is a great boot jack.I apologize. I looked more closely and there IS SOME MINOR RED MARKING ON THE LEATHER from the boot jack. I would recommend some other without the red. **Q: Made in usa, or imported? the description says both.** A: Dear KENNA, This is my opinion: So many of our suppliers and manufacturing industries are tied into China’s (cheaper than USA’s) labor force. Therefore, many industries send the materials to China to be assembled into the finished product...which is then sent back to the United States companies to be distributed. China isn’t the only country doing business with America’s companies.... India, Pakistan, S. Korea, Mexico, Canada...just to name a few..... Unless the disclosure says made and manufactured in America, we consumers never know the entire tracking of products. This globalization of industry will eventually end after this world wide Coronavirus infection. At least the Made in China label won't be seen nearly as much as it is now.
