Review: This Book Cost Me A Geometry Tutoring Job. . . - Love, love, love this book. As a private tutor, I had been searching for a good supplemental resource book for Geometry, and I stumbled upon this one. I had a student who was struggling with Geometry, lost, overwhelmed and intimidated by the subject, and math phobic. We worked together for several weeks, and made some good progress, but she was still struggling. Then this book arrived. At first she panicked a little, because this book didn't look like her class text book, with its handwritten notes and easy, less formal language. But then she started working with it in between our tutoring sessions, and she "got" it. (As a teacher, those are the moments you live for). Her stress level and math anxiety went WAY down, she became confident and even comfortable with the subject. After her midterms I waited to hear from her to schedule our next session. And waited. . .and waited. . . I finally spoke with her father, who happily reported how well she was doing, and how enthusiastic she was about this book. A few months later, I got the call every tutor loves - an excited (former) student reporting that they got an A in the class, confidence and enthusiasm practically bursting from her. Ah well, thanks to this book, I lost a $50 per hour tutoring job. . . but for the very best of reasons:) This book can initially be a little intimidating, because its big, thick, crammed with information, and might not look exactly like the math texts you've been used to. But once you get into it, you will fall in love with it. Its well-organized by topic, and its beyond thorough in its discussion of each item. the margins are filled with hand-written notes and diagrams showing key ideas, shortcuts, common mistakes to avoid, and explanations. It can be used either as a primary text to progress through from beginning to end, or as a secondary, supplemental resource to be used just as a fill in to learn more about specific topics. Its presentation of proofs is especially well done. I wish this series was available in every subject I teach. . .
Review: Buy this book for anyone taking geometry! - I highly recommend this book for anyone with a child taking Geometry! My daughter plays a varsity sport and unfortunately had Geometry as her last class of the day. She missed over half of the class sessions because her sport went all the way to the State championship, and they had to leave early for games multiple times a week. I bought this after a recommendation from a friend, and thank goodness I did because she literally taught herself Geometry using this book. Her teacher was so impressed that she was able to maintain a 99% average in the class, and asked to see the book several times as she found it helpful to use in explaining things to other students who needed a little help. Her younger sister will be in the exact same boat this year, and her brothers after that, so it’s definitely going to be worth the money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very helpful combined with a Geometry textbook
*by C***S on April 18, 2014*

As mentionned in another geometry textbook review, I have relearned geometry after a long (very long) absence, in order to tutor my grandson and get him through his high school course. The textbook ofttimes is a bit confusing; this book does a good job of providing other ways to look at and explain theorems and solving problems. My only criticisms are its index......it is extremely rudimentary.....and the book could have greater detail......but in the book (about 1-1.5 inches thick) there is a lot of math condensed into the pages...plane geometry, solid geometry and further.... It is a frequent "go to" book that I use when trying to learn and impart the theorems and concepts. It's well worth buying if you're tutoring someone.....but, it shouldn't be the only book you utilize....it works well in combination with a detailed high school or college text. It would be nice if the subject (plane geometry) could be presented in standardized format....using two different books (this and a text) requires the liberal use of the index to find and teach the concepts within each book....each author follows a different order of teaching geometry.
