This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. The front-loading battery door allows user to change the battery without removing the alarm from the mounting bracket making battery replacement easy and convenient. This smoke alarm is available in a 6-piece cut case with tray for easy display as well as a 6-piece bulk pack for contractors and property owners. I was not able to take delivery of these until I paid the postman the balance of the postage that was supposed to have been covered by the seller. They are advertised as "Free Shipping", but for me were not.- When I contacted the seller they first told me that they "...have paid the shipping cost by amazon and it should not have any extra charges". I sent them a picture of the package with the USPS "Postage Due" stamp and amount I had to pay. They then advised that I "...should have refused the package".Conclusion: These smoke detectors are great, install easily, and work as designed and expected. This seller, in my case, not so much.... Buyer beware. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Replacement Smoke Alarms for Home *by on Reviewed in the United States February 22, 2021* The package of six replacement smoke alarms were very easy to install throughout my home...One medium screw driver was used to secure alarms to existing ceiling circuit.
