If you catch the boot tear before the CV joint gets dirty you may even be able to skip cleaning the CV joint. These are factory quality parts; my OEM BMW factory axles were GKN. HOWEVER it is crazy that factory outer boots lasted only 66,000 miles. My 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 has similar front axles...20 years and over 200,000 trouble free miles. We need to get Toyota to make BMW parts...especially anything rubber. Review: The supplied grease is excellent. Will update if anything changes - Worked on a 2004 BMW 324XI.
