For this purpose it is GREAT!! The knife arrived pretty sharp (although you will need to sharpen it if you want a better edge) and it looks great! The sheath is the one thing I really love about this knife. It is not the nylon variety... it is made out of solid plastic type of material. It looks like it is going to hold up nicely. I would recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for a good blade with a full tang. Review: Nice Quality built knife - Nice knife, solid quality ## Features - Fixed Blade - 10" Overall - 4Mm Thickness Tanto Blade - Nylon Fiber Handle - Includes Black Abs Sheath ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00CHKKN58 | | Age Range (Description) | Adult | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #626,286 in Sports & Outdoors ( See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors ) #2,296 in Fixed Blade Hunting Knives | | Blade Edge | Fine Edge | | Blade Material | Stainless Steel | | Blade Shape | Tanto Point | | Blade Type | Tanto | | Brand | MTECH USA XTREME | | Brand Name | MTECH USA XTREME | | Color | black | | Customer Package Type | Box | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 138 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00805319072386 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Handle Material | Injection Molded Nylon Fiber | | Included Components | Sheath | | Item Length | 10 inches | | Item Shape | Elongated with a handle | | Item Weight | 0.1 kg | | Manufacturer | Master Cutlery Inc. | | Model Name | MX-8071-MC | | Model Number | MX-8071-MC | | Number of Items | 1 | | Part Number | MX-8071-MC | | Product Care Instructions | Hand Wash Only | | Recommended Uses For Product | Fighting | | Reusability | Disposable | | Size | 10-Inch Overall | | Special Feature | Stainless Steel | | Special Features | Stainless Steel | | Style | Modern | | Theme | Combat | | UPC | 805319072386 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** Adult - **Blade Material:** Stainless Steel - **Brand:** MTECH USA XTREME - **Color:** black - **Handle Material:** Injection Molded Nylon Fiber - **Included Components:** Sheath - **Model Name:** MX-8071-MC - **Recommended Uses For Product:** Fighting - **Special Feature:** Stainless Steel - **Style:** Modern ## Images ![MTech USA MX-8071-MC XTREME Mx-8071 Fixed Blade Knife, 10" Overall - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Y6wK1gz8L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How long is the actual blade?** A: Maybe 5-5 1/2 in. **Q: I am a fire fighter and i was wondering if the knife will stay in the shieth during vigorous activities if it is attached to outside of my gear** A: I has a pretty solid clip to lock in the sheath. But anything is possible. I have one mille attached to my wife's go bag in the upside down position. On several test runs it had stayed in place. I like the knife and was pretty picky when I chose this one for the price. Sharpens and hones up very nice. **Q: Is the size of this knife good to be concealed carried?** A: Its a good knife to conceal easily.Keep in mind you have a rubber handle that may catch on clothing etc... **Q: Does it have good weight** A: Yes it's perfect, beautiful rubber filling handle and very sharp ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife at a fantastic price *by D***L on February 24, 2014* I purchased this knife with the purpose of using it as my backup blade. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice Quality built knife *by B***. on December 12, 2025* Nice knife, solid quality ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ MTECH TANTO , BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. *by B***9 on January 9, 2014* Ordered this because it was cheap , & wanted to see what Mtech was really like . So many of their knives are just plain goofy looking , but this one is not bad , The handle is grippy , if a little too " square " , and just a tad too short for me ( average size hands ) , The sheath seems sturdy enough , and retains the knife well , but I have a feeling it will wear , sooner or later , at the point where the sheath grips the knife , and retention will be compromised . Just how long this will take remains to be seen . The blade is marked 440 , the factory edge was sharp , but no where near razor sharp . Haven't used it enough , yet , to comment on edge retention , but it was easy to bring the edge up to a much sharper state . Love the Americanised tanto blade shape ! The point is VERY pointy , and would pierce any soft material , ( flesh ?? ) , no problem ! Blade is nice & thick , also . All in all , for the money , I would rate this a satisfactory knife for everyday use , and self defense . One you wouldn't cry over if lost or damaged . PS : Plan on removing the black finish , and ( hopefully ) , all the totally unnecessary printing all over the blade very soon ! UPDATE 2/11/14 - As I suspected , the outer edges of the finger guard are wearing from contact with the harder material of the sheath . If I hold the sheath upside down & give it a sharp shake , the knife will fall out ! I may be able to put tape , or something , on the finger guard to correct the problem , but this would probably have to be done regularly , as the tape wears . Still , for a little over 20 bucks , I'm not really surprised . I still think the knife is ok for general use , & I may try making a sheath for it myself . This is something I've been wanting to try , anyway . If I could , I would deduct another 1/2 star for the sheath issue . ## Frequently Bought Together - MTech USA MX-8071-MC XTREME Mx-8071 Fixed Blade Knife, 10" Overall - MTech USA MT-20-35 Series Fixed Blade Knife, Black Drop Point Blade, Plastic Handle, 8-Inch Overall - MTech USA – Fixed Blade Knife – Black Stainless Steel Blade with Black Carved G10 Handle, Full Tang, Includes 1680D Nylon Sheath - Hunting, Camping, Survival, Tactical, EDC – MT-20-39 --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/1765966-mtech-usa-mx-8071-mc-xtreme-mx-8071-fixed-blade](https://www.desertcart.at/products/1765966-mtech-usa-mx-8071-mc-xtreme-mx-8071-fixed-blade) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
