## Description

2009 sophomore album from the New York-based Alt Rock band. Exploding Head is 43 mesmerizing minutes of pain as pleasure. You'll be checking the levels on your living room stereo from the moment 'It Is Nothing' pulls everyone in earshot through a vortex of groove-locked rhythms and back-spun power chords. You'll be sucked in and blown away by the paranoid android Pop of the album's first single 'In Your Heart,' the gorgeous gate-crashing melodies of 'Keep Slipping Away,' the Chinese water torture chords of 'Lost Feeling,' the sputtering percussion of 'Everything Always Goes Wrong,' the apocalypse now effects of 'Ego Death,' the sinewy, slightly sinister overtones of the title track, and the firework finale flare-ups of 'I Lived My Life To Stand In The Shadow Of Your Heart.' This release makes up the band's most arousing recording to date.

Astounding Place To Hear The Burying

*by G***S on January 2, 2014*

I had to wait for Christmas for this one. Place to Bury Strangers, technically adept and often a sweet, steely grind, is a musician's paradise. Exploding Head is a little more risky than later recordings, and the noodling and length of some songs is less grating and less pop, and less about murder than about political interpretations of how terrorism can be placed onto the disc. This band is a magnificent band for those of us who expect more from musicians than the old three-chord virus that continues to exist, often in a full house kind of way, and the technical facticity and eloquent use of electronics alongside allusions to bands as far away in time as Sisters of Mercy is always refreshing and guaranteed to wake-up the neighbors while drowning out the vacuuming taking place far above us first floor land-lubbers.Sail into the sky, Place To Bury Strangers. This stuff is a favorite.

    Good Indie/Post-Punk Record

*by D***E on February 20, 2015*

Very good indie/post-punk record by this Brooklyn, NY outfit. Great for fans of The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Bauhaus, New Order, Dinosaur Jr, etc. Also good for fans of newer indie acts like Deerhunter, No Age, Japandroids, Yuck, and others. "Keep Slipping Away" will get stuck in your head for days, and "l Lived My Life to Stand in the Shadow of Your Heart" sounds like JAMC, Deerhunter, and MBV hitting record and jamming away in the studio. Despite the obvious influences, this band also has their own touch they add to their songs. I hear they put on a terrific live show, and I will be seeing them March 10th when they come to my town. Definitely check these guys out.

    I'm loving this band!

*by C***E on February 17, 2010*

All I can say is this band ROCKS! I've owned this album (as well as their previous) only a short time and already I've listened to it a gazillion times. You have to turn it up though to hear those subtleties that only certain musicians are able to layer into their music. There is definite talent here. They're complex, the music isn't forced and they break free from alot of the sounds these days that are so much alike. They're going to do well. Can't wait to see them live.
