Review: (Mostly) Successful Solution of a Minor Issue - Purchased this booster to solve a minor issue. My new Panasonic phone system (model KX-TG994) can’t quite operate in “ECO” mode consistently in my bedroom (just a few feet too far away from the base unit), I thought that this might solve the problem. The base unit has to go where it is (it’s where the most centrally located phone jack is); on one side of the living room, beneath the “breakfast” counter between the living room and the kitchen. The booster can be installed in a more central/higher location than the base, offering better coverage for both the living room and bedroom (they share a wall.) I determined exactly where to put the booster, powered it up and registered it to the base. Registration went smoothly, the 2 LED’s went through a quick succession of color changes before finally ending on both being solid green. This is the best possible outcome, as it indicates both proper operation and a good signal; an amber LED for the antenna indicates a weak connection with the base. A red status LED and blinking red for the antenna indicates that the booster is too far away (not connected), but is registered. If you were too far from the base for successful registration initially (you don’t get any of the above indications, or “status” is amber), move closer to the base and try again. After successful registration, if necessary, move the booster around so that you get both LED’s green for best performance. Don’t expect miracles, at most this unit can double the range in the direction it’s installed away from the base. In my case, I never saw anything but both green, so I didn’t have to search for a better position. The coverage without the booster is not a problem (my condo is fairly small.) This project was an attempt to increase the range of “ECO” mode to improve battery life/talk time. (“ECO” mode reduces the transmitter power of the handsets to accomplish this.) Once the booster has been positioned it might take a few hours for the intended improvements in handset performance to be realized. I temporarily put the booster near the place that I wanted to install it permanently to see if it would work there before putting screws in the wall. I noticed that it took a while before the bedroom handset (sitting in its charging base) indicated that it was in “ECO” mode. This delay in improved performance happened again when I did the permanent installation. I moved the booster (but didn’t unplug it) while measuring and placing the screws. Once the booster was in its permanent location, the handset was no longer in “ECO” mode. I was concerned, because, you know, screws. A few hours later the handset was back in “ECO” mode! Over the next few days, the bedroom handset has been switching back and forth between being in or out of “ECO” mode while in its charging base. The system appears to be more dynamic than I realized. It was never in “ECO” mode before installing the booster, however, so there’s definitely been an improvement. If not currently in “ECO” mode while in the charger, it does “kick in” once the handset is picked up to make a call, which is the important thing! (Also, mostly didn’t happen without the booster.) It seems that there’s more going on than meets the eye with this system as a whole. I expect that it’s fine tuning its performance constantly. Once all components are in fixed locations (not in use) it does seem to take some time to improve general signal performance, but it also seems to react immediately (when handsets are in use) to adjust for signal strength changes while handsets are potentially in motion. It also seems to react immediately if there are any negative signal connectivity issues in the system while not in use. This is all conjecture on my part as I’m trying to understand my observations, but what I can say for sure is that it’s not a static system! I haven’t made or answered any calls since the booster was installed, so I don’t know how things will go in that situation; I don’t expect any problems. The result is not exactly, but mostly, what I hoped for.
Review: Did the job! - I was struggling with keeping an upstairs phone connected to the base station downstairs. I came across this item and gave it a try. I don't understand why some reviewers have complained about the instructions. I found the instructions straightforward and easy to understand. The whole pairing process took me maybe two minutes, including reading the instructions once through before starting. Once paired with the base station, I positioned this range extender on a landing about halfway between the base station and the troublesome phone. Problem solved! The phone upstairs now has a strong enough signal to stay connected to the base station. A little pricey for what it is, but worth it to make the upstairs phone reliable. Recommended.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Expensive!
*by W***R on November 5, 2021*

My order came through as expected, and the range extender worked as advertised. It was easy to set up. However, I had to pay about twice the original price than before the pandemic! Could not find this item at the usual advertised places: Office Depot, Target. Suspect supply chain and maybe chip issues.
