These made my deck railings sturdy and secure and they look great! Some posts need to be trimmed or sanded to fit into them (wood swells) but once inserted and secured they are extremely sturdy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to install *by J***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2023* These were super easy to install and sturdy! Was afraid they wouldn’t hold being plastic but they are extremely sturdy! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ignore the impatient DIY'ers *by C***L on Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2021* I took the time to read reviews and prepared myself for mistakes made by others. Read the following and these bases will be everything you hope them to be as they have been for me!Breakage problems:When putting any screw into something plastic, set the ratchet on your drill to the #3 setting. Do this, and there is no way you will break the plastic you are screwing into. The people who complain about breaking these things are not following this simple rule. I installed 8 of them, did not come close to breaking any of them! There are twelve screws in each base. You do not need to bury these screws into the base to provide a solid home for your railing posts. You only need to screw them in until they are snug and your #3 ratchet setting starts skipping. My railings are extremely solid with very little movement following this protocol.Size of opening:I installed eight cedar 4x4's (3.5"x 3.5") into these bases with no needed influence. They fit perfectly. If you are using green treated or cedar toned treated simply take your tape measure with you to Menards, Home Depot, or Lowe's and measure the posts you are looking at to make sure you are not buying newly treated pine lumber. If they are still wet as most of them will be... they will be swollen and will not measure 3.5"x 3.5," which means they will not fit into a base holder that measures exactly, 3.5"x 3.5". Fail to measure before buying and you will be sanding or trimming them in some way. This is not the fault of the base. Use common sense as we all know that very few boards will measure what is advertised, so take your tape, and save yourself the hassle.Overall experience:I think these bases look very industrial, are very easy to work with and provide a very rigid end product. Add some black railing holders and you'll have a winning hand. My railings look great and are very sturdy. These bases exceeded my expectations and were a fraction of the work of attaching your posts to the inside of your structure and having to custom cut your decking planks around them.
