Not quite sure what the red light and flashing red light would be used for? Little tip, instead of scrolling through the different light options(torch, bright lantern, soft lantern, solid red, flashing red, off) long press the power button to turn off, the first couple of times I used the torch function for the toilets I was frantically scrolling through the options trying to turn it off.
