## Description

desertcart.com : ESTWING Machete - 19.25" USA Made Saw-Back Blade Bushwacker with Forged Steel Construction & Shock Reduction Grip - EBM : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Review: Not bad!! - I don’t know how much use I’ll get out of it. It’s stout and feels good in the hand. Not too heavy or too light for its size. It balances like a short sword. The sheath kinda sucks but it’s not the worst. The saw back seems useless and mine is only bent to one side. The edge had massive burs on both sides so not much attention was paid while sharpening but it wasn’t the worst. Just has a cool factor to it despite it being ugly as sin. Value is hard to judge, it wasn’t very expensive and has a bulletproof construction, but a small Latin machete may be a more useful all around tool.
Review: Burly beast for vegetation and zombies. - This is good for clearing out vegetation that you can grasp in one hand while cutting, sawing, hacking or digging with this tool in the other hand. Long handle for extra reach or to use two hands. Point of balance is good at about 1/2" up the blade from the guard. Saw-tooth spine has long teeth sticking out in alternating directions, which can saw or hack through softer material (vines, thin branches, rope, tall grass) but not thick hardwood unless you want to risk bending the teeth. Chops nicely as the long handle allows you to hit with plenty of momentum, more like a hatchet. Blade edge comes with a rough grind that is easily touched up, and the blade is highly molded so it is thicker in parts while thinner in others. Steel is mystery "U.S. steel" which I think is 1060 or 5160 because it is nice and springy, but not too springy -- this is a burly beast of a tool! It does indeed appear to be a single piece of steel with just a bolster and rubbery material covering the tang -- I am not worried that it will fail. It is light for its size and absorbs shocks nicely without stiffly transferring the shock to your hand. This is too large and unwieldy for hunting, especially given the saw-tooth spine and the fact that it comes with a coating that rubs off with use. Rust has not been a problem yet. It has "U.S.A." in large letters molded into the blade and printed on the handle, so everyone will know where this was made. Comes with a functional but basic stiff nylon sheath that fits a 2 1/2" wide belt, both knife and sheath in factory-sealed packaging so you know it's new. Highly recommended. And yes: this will definitely take care of any wayward zombies!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the saw actually work?**
A: The saw works, but I would use a cordless saw or chainsaw for a big job.
It is not flimsy like on some machetes.

**Q: Any idea what kind of steel it is made out of?**
A: It is drop forged 1055 carbon steel.

**Q: 10 inch blade or 10 inch total?**
A: The blades cutting edge is 10". Overall around 20" long. Balance very well for what it is.

**Q: What kind of steel is the blade made from?**
A: The Best kind

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality
*by S***H on April 30, 2023*

On arrival it is a bit bent depending on how you hold and look at it; from the blade edge it looks straight but from the sawtooth edge if you hold it and compare the angle it looks bent but the blade itself is not bent. It is a dull blade though, it is meant for hacking with force. Do not expect to receive a sharp blade out of the box, I noticed on arrival that Bear Grylls was the poster boy of the packaging. Tested the blade edge and it isn’t something you’d want to bring out as a machine right away, the saw works really well. Realizing that the blade itself wasn’t sharp I used a whett stone with 1k grit and then 6k grit to sharpen that up, it was a fun project because the material is good so it sharpened really well. Just as a note if you want a cool looking blade this is great but you will need to spend time making it sharp with a whett stone or for quicker results a grinder. All of the blackish grey needs to be sharpened off. It was fun bringing it to sharpness, good material.
