I had to take a class called, Project and Change Control, and this book was assigned for us, graduate level, Ph.d and Master level, by the instructor. The book is so easy to understand for beginner and people who don't have any background about projects or computer information system. It takes the readers step by step with examples and easy operational definitions. I highly recommend this book for instructors and students or any person who is welling to start his/her project. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good read for the novice and expert ... *by B***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2006* Good book ... it's not too prescriptive or preachy...Having read a few too many books on software development management, this book had a bunch of good ideas on how to achieve that ever elusive 'quality' we are all looking for. That being said, easier said than done...I asked a colleague of mine to read this book, as this person is one of those know-it-all technology people who think that they are the only ones on the planet that can take data from a database and display it on a web page. (I thought God-complexes only applied to Doctors that looked like Alec Baldwin). To my delight, this person was so much easier to deal with after reading this book. (Sometimes it takes people to read a 3rd parties' ideas because they refuse to believe a co-worker might have a good one).I am now planning on lending my copy to a very-special member of executive management who can't seem to grasp why 'it takes so long' for new versions of software to be released. (Like we are baking cookies or something).It would have been nice if the book touched on ROI analysis and long term costing models/analysis of projects. In my eyes, the best software project is the one that gets shot down before even starting. Maybe a chapter on this in edition 2?One section I had issue with was the concept of "all software engineers are created equal"... I simply don't buy it. On almost every project I have been on there have been "heavy lifters" that ultimately carry the project.
