I am soooo mad I paid for this. The thing is, I did everything right... I read the sample (liked it) and read the reviews (everyone else liked it). Decided it was worth my money to purchase. Big mistake! I give it one star because I actually like the writing style (meaning the actual cadence of the words on the page, not content, or lack thereof). Another half-star because the chapters I read in the sample were cute. But the lack of any kind of story and the underdeveloped characters prevent me from being able to even give this a full two stars.There is so much in this book that doesn't make sense, too much to go into. But, ironically, my biggest problem with this book is asked by the heroine herself..."'Why do you love me? I'm a college student and you're... you! You're a doctor with a trust fund and a fancy penthouse. You're cultured and associate with people who host charity events or sit on boards of companies. You have a housekeeper, Luke. I do my laundry in a coin-operated machine that I share with a hundred other students.'"YES! GREAT QUESTION, SOPHIE! I was wondering the exact same thing since you have no enduring qualities and the two of you have absolutely nothing in common. To be fair, it's not clear why Sophie him either.Again there is SO MUCH wrong (Sophie's random hatred for her mom, the acceptance of Luke's parents by both Luke and his sister, the cavalier handling of an almost-sex crime, the way Luke talks to Sophie, her not having any plan after college, weird subplot with an ex and "infertility", an unexplained pregnancy, etc).But those few lines literally sum up the whole book. You're welcome for the money I just saved you. ### ⭐ immature and just stupid. who gets an orgasm when getting examed by ... *by L***D on Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2016* i'm sorry, i did not get all the positive reviews on this book. i couldn't even finish it. i stopped reading by the time her hot gynocologist picked her up at the restaurant. i couldn't bond w/ the girl. she seemed, crass, immature and just stupid. who gets an orgasm when getting examed by a doctor??? i don't care how hot he is. and this is just the beginning of of one of many cringe worthy scenes. i'm all for hot sex scenes, but this did not work for me. i will not be reading anymore of this book. just did not hold my interest. all i could think was "these people are stupid". ### ⭐ Given all the porn, should come in a brown wrapper .. *by C***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2017* The main characters are Sophie, a 21-YO college student moonlighting as a barista, and Luke, a 36-YO doctor who swings by each weekday for his morning java. Despite the age difference, Sophie has endless fantasies of how sex could be between them. Soon, her fantasies become reality. Sophie is still a virgin (oh, please!!!) and, upon visiting a gynecologist, she is horrified to see that Luke is the doctor. In the ecstasy and orgasm experienced during his exam, Sophie reveals she plans to have sex with her boyfriend (Mike) that weekend. Ironically, Sophie, Luke and their respective dates dine at the same restaurant that weekend and - after overhearing Mike's plans to video the sexcapade - Luke whisks Sophie from the restaurant. But, since Sophie's roommate has exclusive use of their dorm room that night, Luke takes her to his apartment. Tho initially trying to avoid an entanglement - given the age difference - Luke bends (literally) to Sophie's charms and therein lies the story as the reader is regaled (?) with page-after-page of their sexual exploits, positions and overly graphic details. And this was a New York Times best seller?! I did enjoy the book's descriptions of the Univ of Penn campus, the Rittenhouse Square setting for Luke's penthouse, and references to Philadelphia's restaurants and the suburbs. However, I don't consider myself a prude but would challenge the book's description as a "dirty, romantic comedy." A more appropriate adjective would be either "filth", "smut" or "porn".
