The experiments for the most part involve things found in your home. There is an helpful list of supplies in the beginning of the book. It will make the lessons go smoother if you assemble them all in the beginning so you don't have to go searching for the occasional odd thing (stump remover, steel wool). The format appears different and at first I wondered if it was up to par for 5-6th grades, but comparing to other books it's just a font/color change and I like it. The "try it" sections are headed now with a colorful box to help it stand out. Previous books from Apologia just have it as regular text and you don't notice you have something hands on to do that page until you get there or search out the title. I like this change. And wow, are there a lot of the "try it" sections! Great for these topics.
