We had a traditional damper that was of course not airtight at all, and started to look for a solution. This product seemed easiest to use and most sensible versus the balloon type plugs. It did require removing the metal door damper and replacing it with this. Initially, the results were not great — it was only a little better and we were still getting smell. So I called their customer service and the person there was genuinely helpful. Had me send a photo of my situation, and he advised me on a way to sort of cross tuck the corners (difficult to explain) in a way that it greatly tightens the fit of the blocker. That seemed to help, because after that there has been a significant reduction in the smell (though not full elimination). That said, I agree with some of the other reviews - for what this essentially is (i.e., a thick piece of wool), it’s rather overpriced.
