## Description

Massca Aluminum Pocket Hole Jig System Pro M2 Adjustable & Easy to Use Joinery Woodworking Tool For DIY Carpentry Projects - desertcart.com

Review: works as well as the competion - Since it's made of aluminum, it feels like a well-made product that will last a while. I decided to go with this over the Kreg brand mainly for that reason. It works quite well, and the drill bit that's included for the pocket holes seems quite sharp and makes the holes quickly. I like the size as it sits without moving and can be taken apart if you want to use it without the base.
Review: An absolute must have - I started out with a cheap pocket hole jig kit. It had a hand screw to tighten and loosen the clamp. While it worked, there were so many drawbacks. I was torn between Massca and Kreg for my replacement. I followed the advice of a YouTuber (that uses and reviews lots of woodworking products) and got this one. Man, am I glad I did. It's hard to express how much I like this one without turning this post into a rant against my old jig. But Here are my top Pro's: - The CLAMP is by far the best feature. Being able to lock my piece, drill my hole, and unlock to move to the next hole/piece in seconds has saved me so much time. - The stabilizing arms are great for wider pieces that tend to tip over when too much weight is on one side. - The included drill bit is so smooth in the drill guide. It doesn't bite and grind into the guide like other brands. I was also expecting some metal shavings as the bit and guide were "broken in", but nothing like that happened. Still buttery smooth after several uses. The Bit is also designed to fit very well in my drill. This was unexpected as I'm used to a bit that seems more destined for a drill press. - The lock ring/drill stop is very well made and locks very well onto the bit. It doesn't cant/lean on the bit, slide during use, or work its way loose. The design seems to have though in advance not to conflict the stop key and the bit grooves with each other. I've had this on other pieces and it can be very frustrating to deal with. - Adjustment on the pocket hole guide block are really easy to make, with preset measurements already there that are easy to read and set. - Built-in dust collection!!! This was huge for me. The dust collection port is the perfect size for my shop vac hose. I can connect it, power on the vacuum, and drill away with zero dust build up. This has made a big difference in my shop. - Mounting holes and screws are available with this product. I took full advantage and mounted it to a piece of MDF scrap I had. This gave more stability, easy storage, and a nice work platform that I can move around as needed. - Most pieces came with its own protective case. Like the drill bit came in a plastic box to protect it when not in use. Granted, I don't use it, but it is a good design and gives a little bit of thought to the producer that they went above and beyond when putting this package together. Some things I don't like (but can probably live with): - If the clamp is not adjusted just right, the rubber ring that holds pressure on your piece can leave an impression on your workpiece. I've started using a small scrap to take the pressure instead of the work piece and that has made a big difference, even though it gives me another piece to work with. - The depth stop guide will most likely get lost. I like it, and its functional as a component, but being lightweight plastic and having to be removed after each setup means it has to be stored somewhere. I'm trying to keep my parts all together, but I just know that it will eventually be lost. A different design for that setup might be necessary. - This could be user error, or cross brand conflict, but I've noticed the holes of the pocket holes don't seem to go as far as I would have expected. I have my stock pieces set properly and the depth stop set for the appropriate thickness, but the screw heads seem to stop just before full concealment. I'll change screw brands and see if that makes a difference, but that is something I will definitely have to adjust for in my builds. Other notes, - I have not used the screws that came with it, yet. So far I've used what I have in my stock. Once I have a chance though, I'll try them out and make a separate review.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: First time using this and I don't understand why my pocket holes are very rough and not even removing wood on the right side of the hole??**
A: This happened to me, too but after using it awhile. Make sure to back the bit out about halfway through to let the vacuum clear the dust. Let the drill do the work as much as possible - don’t push too hard. Make sure your drill is set to a fast setting. On my Dewalt 20v, I use the 2 setting for drilling and the 1 setting for driving the screws. I also use additional clamps to hold the piece as still as I can relative to the jig. Sometimes I did still get a slightly rough edge. Just give 1-2 rubs with a sanding sponge or a small piece of 220 grit sandpaper and the fuzz comes right off. It’s barely hanging on.

**Q: What is the outside diameter of the dust port. My shop vac hose is 2.25" outside diameter. What adapter would I need to connect to my shop vac?**
A: The ID of the port is 1 3/16" the OD is 1 3/8"

**Q: Can you position a 2x2 so the pocket hole goes into the center of the wood?**
A: Yes. The fixture is about 2 3/4 wide and 2 holes are about 1 1/4 on center. A 2x2 could be positioned to put a single screw in the center or so that two screws each about 1/4 inset from outside edge could be used.

**Q: Can this be use on 3/4 plywood?**
A: That is the most common usage for pocket holes I think. I have built several projects using this jig and 3/4 maple plywood.
