Concentrated, opaque, and suitable for fine detail work on unfired clay or bisque, low/mid-high fire (Cone 05-6) AMACO Semi-Moist "SMUG" Underglazes are formulated to be applied like traditional pan watercolor paints! Colors respond like watercolors when brushed, becoming more opaque when layered and more transparent when diluted with water; they can also be blended and mixed to achieve a wide variety of effects. Semi-Moist Underglazes are packaged in watercolor-like pans, in a convenient tray with a hinged lid; use a brush dipped in water to lift underglaze from the pan, then apply. Colors can be fired to Cone 10. Review: Great product have two different palettes. - I love this stuff. Game changer. Like watercolor on ceramic. Some color changes and texture after firing as expected. You can used it on green or bisque. I like to use it on bisque then fire before glazing so I can do any touch ups I want. Review: Actual product not a knock off cheapest place to buy it - Beautiful just like all the other Amaco semi moist underglazes you can use this in a very painterly watercolor fashion or just like tempera paint but on clay. Not sure how much of a bargain buy they are definitely cheaper here on desertcart than anywhere else it was the exact product this is not a knock off but it is a small amount but they go a long way I would have to edit my review Once I run out :-) could be in a couple years kind of seems like it's going that way I use it like watercolor so I use very little ...put some on brush and move it over to a paint palette and use lots of water. ## Features - AMACO Semi-Moist Underglazes Set No. 4 (#111) includes 8 assorted saturated decorating colors: Red, Light Red, Real Orange, Electric Blue, Amethyst, Violet, Hunter Green, and Salmon. - Concentrated, opaque, and suitable for fine detail work on unfired clay or bisque, low/mid-high fire (Cone 05-6) AMACO Semi-Moist "SMUG" Underglazes are formulated to be applied like traditional pan watercolor paints! - Packaged in watercolor-like pans, in a convenient tray with a hinged lid; use a brush dipped in water to lift underglaze from the pan, then apply. - Colors respond like watercolors when brushed, becoming more opaque when layered and more transparent when diluted with water; they can also be blended and mixed to achieve a wide variety of effects. - Colors can be fired to Cone 10. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0044SBEGI | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #74,554 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ( See Top 100 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ) #121 in Ceramics Glazes | | Brand | AMACO | | Brand Name | AMACO | | Color | 8-Count Set No. 4 (#111) | | Color Code | Multicolor | | Container Type | Tray | | Coverage | Opaque | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 259 Reviews | | Dry Time In Hours | 8 | | Finish Type | Matte | | Included Components | Brush | | Item Form | Semi-Moist | | Item Volume | 1.5 fluid ounces | | Item Weight | 4.8 ounces | | Manufacturer | American Art Clay | | Model Name | A-SMUG Semi-Moist Underglaze | | Model Number | 41274K | | Paint Type | Ceramic Underglaze | | Part Number | 41274K | | Size | 12 Ounce (Pack of 1) | | Special Feature | Cone 05-6, Intermixable, Layerable, Low/Mid-High Fire, Watercolor-Like Paint Pans | | Special Features | Cone 05-6, Intermixable, Layerable, Low/Mid-High Fire, Watercolor-Like Paint Pans | | Specific Uses For Product | Ceramics and Pottery | | Surface Recommendation | Bisqueware, Unfired Clay | | UPC | 039672412743 | | Unit Count | 12 Ounce | | Warranty Description | NO WARRANTY | | Water Resistance Level | Water Resistant | ## Product Details - **Brand:** AMACO - **Color:** 8-Count Set No. 4 (#111) - **Finish Type:** Matte - **Item Volume:** 1.5 Fluid Ounces - **Paint Type:** Ceramic Underglaze - **Size:** 12 Ounce (Pack of 1) - **Special Feature:** Cone 05-6, Intermixable, Layerable, Low/Mid-High Fire, Watercolor-Like Paint Pans - **Specific Uses For Product:** Ceramics and Pottery - **Surface Recommendation:** Ceramic - **Unit Count:** 12.0 Ounce ## Images ![Semi-Moist Underglazes, 8 Assorted Colors, Set No. 4 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/611FF6ZhjpL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: matte finish?** A: Yes mat finish. These are underglazes and so I cover with a clear glaze after. **Q: Can they be fired to cone 10?** A: Yes, the colors in this set will hold up to cone 10. **Q: How do i choose which set i’d like? the amazon listing doesn’t allow me to choose.** A: As far as I know there are four different sets each with different colors. Scroll down into description to get a look at the listed colors. **Q: Are these different than using their regular underglazes and watering them down?** A: I have used both together on pieces. Both have pigmentss in them for color, but the colors are not the same for each other. You have to coat more with water color set than with regular underglazes. Watering down the water color makes weak color out of them or washes them out. I don't know about watering down underglazes at all. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product have two different palettes. *by C***H on October 24, 2025* I love this stuff. Game changer.
