There are 100's of photos and illustrations. It covers the Colt Government model, including series 80's, and the U.S. Military M1911 and M1911A1 models. It also covers most copies and clones of the M1911 pistol. Necessary tooling is also shown. Readers have commented that the new 9th edition has somewhere between a whole lot more and twice the information and might make earlier editions obsolete. All we can say is we sincerely hope not, because the earlier editions are still full of useful information - The 9th edition just has a whole lot more. The first part of the book discusses a step by step disassembly and reassembly of the gun that anyone can understand and follow. The photos are superb. It includes info for early models all the way through the series 70, 80, Commanders and Gold Cups. The last half of the book covers every and any type of modification and general gun smithing work that you can perform on this gun. In my opinion, if you own a Colt 45 automatic, you should have this book to give yourself a complete understanding of the Colt you own.
