Creamy application, good for any level or age of art hobbyists - I haven’t used these extensively yet; but I’ve tested several of them and I was very impressed with how bold and smooth the colors and texture are. I was easily able to apply it as a light shading like colored pencil/ crayon; or a bold vivid blending more similar to a paint marker, depending on the pressure and number of strokes. I was worried that for the cheap price of these, they would end up being more like crayons than oil pastels; but I was pleasantly surprised by the application and at how well they blend like a lot of the more expensive brands. These are a great purchase for artists of any level and even if you decide you prefer another more pricey brand; these are still absolutely worth buying and having as a tool in your art kit. I’ve bought them twice already for 2 art hobbyists couples in my family and plan to likely buy at least 2 more sets for 2 other art hobbyists because for the price, why not?! I don't have a lot of experience with different brands but if you are familiar with the Royal & Langnickel brand, Pentel is much better. The ease of blending is there, where as it's non-existent with the R&L brand. The only down side would be the smell. It is a very strong smell and I would recommend letting it air out for a few hours before using them properly.
