I wouldn't rely on this pump to protect any valuable personal property.I used this pump for the occasional heavy rainfall that would cause the drain in my basement walkout to overflow and enter my basement. Although this pump did perform flawlessly a few times and saved me from flooding (hence 2 stars), it was not reliable and I still flooded a couple times. After just a year of use, the pump burnt out and my basement flooded again.My two main concerns are that even in testing, the unit seemed to get air-locked from time to time so that when the float initiated the on switch, the impeller would just spin freely in the air pocket without pumping water.
