These are a lot of fun for the entire family. We are all having fun play sword fighting. These are the perfect weight and pretty painless. It’s a denser foam, wrapped around a plastic pipe and if you strike a person with force, it’s going to hurt. You can swing them full speed and they don’t distort or fold over. One drawback is that the foam is soft but not durable. You’re going to need to take care of them because the foam will scrub off the ends if you drag them on a rough surface.The handle is long enough to grab with both hands if you use them as short kendo trainers, and they’re textured. They also tapered them so the center of the handle is slightly thinner then the ends.As a person who has trained people in martial arts, I’d say they’re sturdy enough.
