It is sturdy, it stays put on the windshield and my husband uses it everyday for his phone so that he can play his music (truck does not have radio at the moment). We were going to use it for a tablet but it did not fit my samsung galaxy tab 2. it describes fitting a samsung galaxy tab 2 and 3, an IPad mini 2 and nexus 7. I was expecting it to fit my samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 I should have done a little more research and read the description better as it describes at the top fitting 7 inch tablets, so thats my fault.So learn from my mistake, it only fits 7" tablets, after you adjust the top legs, it has a spring in it and by streching it upwards it will fit up to 7". ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works fine for mounting a Nexus 7 on my Honda Accord windshield *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2014* I decided to order this holder for the few occasions that I need my Nexus 7 for GPS using the Google Maps App. I received the Arkon SM517 within 5 days of placing the order. I know this product page says Jarv but Arkon is what was sent and they appear identical. The package comes with 1. the suction mount, 2. the tablet holder plate which slides onto the suction mount, 3. Eight "legs" (or arms) - 4 short legs & 4 longer legs, 4. one smooth surface plate with self adhesive (for using the suction mount on uneven and/or porous dashboards instead of a windshield), and an alcohol towelette to clean the dashboard surface for the self-adhesive. The holder plate has a seam on one end which is spring loaded. The legs slide into two outside edges of the tablet holder plate (two on each edge). For the Nexus 7 I found that a combination of two long legs on one side and two short legs on the othe side seems to hold the tablet snug enough but you can easily try all three combinations to decide what works best. I decided to mount the holder on the windshield just below the rear-view mirror this way the Nexus 7 is just below the mirror and set back just an inch or two. To attach the mount to the windshield you just press the suction plate flat against the windshield and pull the lever up. To avoid accidentally dropping your tablet, I suggest you tweak out your leg choices and tablet fitting over the soft car seat or if your still in your home, at the kitchen table. Once you have the leg lengths installed I suggest you first mount the holder to the windshield and then insert your tablet. Finally, on the mount,there are two large plastic thumbscrews which you loosen to adjust the angle of your tablet for the best viewing angle. Remember to use care to not drop the holder because the plastic legs may break and then it's useless. Keep the extra 4 legs in a convenient place. I think most people can figure out the easy installation process but I wanted to post my thoughts. It took me 5 minutes to fit the legs to my tablet and another couple of minutes to adjust the proper angles. Now it takes just seconds to attach or remove the holder when needed. Good luck and remember to keep your eyes on the road! ### ⭐⭐ This is an "Arkon" mount - NOT "Jarv" *by F***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2014* This mount comes with instructions that clearly have the "Arkon" logo and name about 10 times on it! Crazy!Besides that, the actual review:Good:-The suction cup is newer plastic that isn't yellowed yet and actually grips - has a good amount of suction-The 3 angles to tilt/turn the angles are great, and do not need any roughing to hold!-The spring loaded grip holds OK - Don't expect to lean this vertical or forward AT ALLBad:-The arms to grip (which SLIDE onto the main body) are VERY skinny and don't grip well (the big ones)-The grip arms are AT MOST 2" wide, OUTSIDE MEASUREMENT with a calibrated vernier scale*** MEASURED WITH THE BIGGER ARMS, AS FOLLOWS: ***-Grippable inside diameter: 4 5/8" at rest-Grippable inside diameter: 5 1/4" fully openOverall I am NOT happy with the fact that this is being touted as a tablet mount, when in reality it holds an iPhone 4/4S perfectly, and would be perfect for these new 'phablets'.
