Review: Breeder tested...the Best Puppy Potty System - As a breeder I am always on the look out for the best way to potty train a puppy. For my own litters I had found that wood pellet in a litter box were very effective...But the problem is the litter falls out of the litter box and gets spread all over. It can be a mess for the new owner to keep using, and the need to purchase litter can be expensive over time. When I got an 8 week Toy Schnauzer for my family, I decided to try a new Puppy Potty System. The Ugodog was the least expensive for long term maintenance, the most clean, very easy to train. It was everything I had hoped it would be. VERSATILE.. You can easily transistion from whatever potty surface the breeder had used for your puppy (Pee pads, litter, newspaper, or whatever other surface.) By putting the familiar surface on top of your Ugodog grates and under it, for the first few weeks, your puppy has the familiar smell and surface and will comfortably use your Ugodog. After the puppy is successfully using the Ugodog for several days you can just use the familiar product under the grates. In time you can use the Ugodog all by itself. EASIEST TO CLEAN. The system is super easy to rinse clean. If you use a pee pad or newspaper under the grate all you have to do is throw that in the trash. The poop stays on top of the grate, and has been very easy to pick up and toss in the toilet. Don't buy artificial grass toilets! They harbor bacteria and will be super smelly in no time. Compact, Descreet, Lightweight. I cannot say enough about the Ugodog. I wrote a blog post describing how we set up a pen (link at bottom of page)with the Ugodog. Our puppy has used it successfully from Day 1 and is as easy to keep as a hampster! Now that she is accustomed to her Ugodog, I will start familiarizing her to also use the woods outside. To do this, I will help her to be familiar with the smell of the woods, by adding a little bit of leaves and dirt underneath the grate. I start this slowly and gradually and she will recognize that smell as a potty place too. I love the Ugodog! If you start using it at 8 weeks old, it is super easy to use! Review: Nothing is perfect, but this is an excellent option - I got this out of desperation in trying to train my 10 week old Pomeranian puppy to use the pee pads. First, the dimensions are 27"x19". I put it in the walk-in shower in my bathroom. This way, even if Emmett (the puppy) misses, his accident will either go down the drain or sit on the shower floor--no big deal and easy clean up. He took to it immediately! He is now 5 1/2 months old and is using this regularly as his "potty" and I love it! Whenever he did have an accident during his training time, I would put the urine soaked paper towel on the tray or a piece of his poo on the tray to remind him that is where he needs to go. I also give him continuous praise whenever he uses the "potty". This is my very first experience with a puppy/dog ever, so I have been completely clueless how to train him aside from all the reading I've been doing. I've read about other reviewer's complaints about the smell, but if you clean it more than once daily, it's not a problem. If you think that is unreasonable, my question to you is "do you leave your pee and poo sitting in the toilet all day"? Of course it will smell! My remedy was to purchase an extra long shower head hose (I think it is 8 feet long) and clean up is a breeze! I remove the solid excrement with a tissue and flush it down the toilet. Then, I just spray the tray by lifting it on an angle and whatever waste is left goes right down the drain. Even when he has loose stool, it still washes away easily. Personally, I would not use this tray anywhere else in my house except in the base of a shower. I trained him to use my bathroom on the first floor, but now that he is "trained", I'm starting to let him in our basement. I'm purchasing a second UGODOG to put in the basement shower as well. So, for anyone with a small dog, Emmett is 7.5 pounds now, this is a great solution. Emmett uses his potty throughout the day and he has access to it 24/7. The ONLY downside to training your dog to go indoors is that you never really know when they have to go because they don't have to let you know by scratching on a door to go outside. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this product (and that negative is not a reflection of the unit, it is a by-product of indoor training).

## Features

- UGODOG Indoor Dog Potty is designed to make clean up simple, easy, and certainly mess free without burdening the environment. 26.4" L x 19.1" W x 1" H for single Ugodog
- UGODOG has a solid base that will support any canine, regardless of breed or size
- UGODOG uses two smaller, removable, fitted grates rather than one large one to make cleanup of the grates easier and more convenient
- The UGODOG grids are specifically designed and engineered to support dogs and accomodate their delicate paws. The beams of the UGODOG grids are thick and convex in shape to cushion dog's paws.
- The UGODOG grates also allow the pooh to settle on top making clean up easy and mess free. Simply lift the grate with the pooh on it and drop the pooh in a recycled waste bag and throw away. The grates allow for your pet's paws to remain dry as the urine passes through the cubed openings and on to the base below where canine pee pads, or more preferably newspaper, absorbs the urine and odor

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the size of the UGODOG indoor potty**
A: Hi Geraldine - The DIMENSIONS of the Single UGODOG indoor potty are as follow:26.4" L x 19.1" W x 1" H (double system is double the size)

**Q: What is the best way to get an older (5) dog to use the potty tray? She is used to only going outdoors.**
A: I trained my now 10 year old dog to do this at about 7 years old. It sounds gross but when he peed outside I soaked some of his pee on a paper towel and swabbed it in the ugodog. Then when I knew it was about time for him to pee, I would take him to the ugodog and say, "go pee pee" which is what I used to say to him outside when he would pee. And then I would give him treats when he would pee on the ugodog. He's been really great about it ever since.

**Q: MY DOG IS 25LBS CAN SHE USE THE UGODOG?**
A: YES most definitely! I LOVE these mats & we have a few & I'm going to buy 2 more! They have a clear connector & I would HIGHLY suggest buying that for a dog that size. The mats w/the grates are made VERY well & DURABLE & the design of those grates have 'supports' on them (the underside) so the weight of your dog will be evenly distributed & the plastic grates won't bend, break or snap. BUT IF for some reason you have an issue you can purchase the grates separately. We've had ours for a year now & haven't had any issues.SIDE NOTES: There should be a video that shows how to alter these mats too. In order to stop the pup or dog from pulling up the grates if they have a habit of ripping up the mats underneath (the wee mats). We had an issue w/that & we had to alter the mats in order to stop our pups from doing so. LOL It was a simple & quick fix & the video was made by another customer here on Amazon & we couldn't be more grateful! :)))The order should come with ugodog pads to line the mats with. Although we liked them a lot & they did what they said these mats work just as well w/the regular 'wee mats' you can find at your local pet store. The GREAT thing about it is they'll last longer. ;) Last but not least these mats are not as difficult to clean as some reviewers are claiming. VERY easy/simple & this product is the BEST on the market in my opinion.

**Q: How deep from the grate to the bottom of the pan?**
A: I never used it, I was advised by my trainer and vet if I wanted my pup to eventually go outside it teaches
them to potty on anything on the ground

### ⭐ Overpriced and overrated
*by C***J on May 19, 2009*

I got this for my small breed puppy. I was using puppy pads but wanted to save money and help the environment by trying this instead. After trying it for just over 2 months I really wouldn't recommend it. First of all, it's 100% made of plastic, so I don't know why it's so expensive. I can get plastic litter pans with metal grids for my rabbits for $12 so I really don't know why one for my dog was $50. It's also very thin. I tried using it with newspapers under the grid, but it made my bathroom smell horribly like dog pee, even when I replaced the paper after every time my puppy went. I tried it with a few different types of litter, including pine pellets, but the thing is so thin that I wasn't able to put a thick enough layer of litter. The pee just soaks the whole bottom of the tray and then the pee soaked litter sticks to the bottom of the tray so instead of just being able to scoop up the pee soaked areas, I had to empty and scrub the whole thing or else it would smell. So much for saving money. About the only thing that worked well for me to use to line the bottom of this thing was Puppy Pads, which was what I was trying to get away from in the first place! It's such a pain to clean this thing too. If it's pee I can just rinse it but my puppy was sick for awhile and it was horrible cleaning his loose poo out from the cracks in the grid, gross! Another thing is that this tray has no edges so a lot of the time my dog will accidentally hang his back end off the end of it and miss the tray completely. And I don't know how my male dog would use this once he starts lifting his leg to pee? Honestly it was such a pain I went out and got another thing of Puppy Pads. I think I'm going to try a different dog litter box - one with high sides and a deeper tray. I really wish I didn't spend so much money on this thing.
