Review: Exactly what we needed! - These handheld intercoms have been a total life saver for us. My elderly and disabled mother lives with us and I was having to constantly check in on her to see if she needed anything. Now all she has to do is hit the call button and it will beep the other handhelds throughout the house. Therefore, I can go about my day doing what I need to and don't have to check on her constantly. She let's me know when she needs me. I can even go out into our yard and carry a handheld with me and it will beep even out in our large yard. Also, and this is the biggie, my sister lives across the street from me (we live in an older neighborhood with large yards and large wide streets) and I can go over to her house with a handheld and it will still beep me if my mom needs anything. That's right - it will reach that far!! When I need to run errands, I leave a handheld with my sister and she can go over to my house when Mom needs something. But be forewarned, just as you sit down in your recliner and lean back and get comfortable, that dang beeper will start beeping at you! LOL! I read some reviews stating that some or all handhelds didn't work when people received them. Fortunately for us, all four worked when I received them. However, after a month or so of use, one handheld quit working and would not take a charge. We removed the battery (completely unhooked it from the handheld) and left it out for about five minutes and then put it back in and Voila!! It started working again! Later, another handheld quit working, however, it was still charging so I knew it wasn't the battery. I looked on the side of the handheld at the ABC modes and sure enough the switch had been slightly moved off of the letter B (we keep ours on B but you can use any letter as long as all handhelds are on the same one). Once I moved it back to B, then it started working again. I can't say the two issues I had are the same as other people, but I would like to recommend you try these steps before sending them back or tossing them. I highly recommend these because for us, they work very well.

This Chtoocy intercom fits the bill very well for the following reasons: - the "phone" style makes it natural to hold and talk; the charger which the intercom sits in, like a phone, has a very small footprint - like a wireless phone, I can take mine to whatever room I go to or when I'm working outside the house - the "Talk" button on the side is comfortable to press when holding the intercom (obviously you can't talk while the other intercom person is talking, but no big deal) - there's also a "VOX" feature which works well so you don't have to push the "Talk" button (it takes a second for the "VOX" to kick in, so make your first word a throwaway, like "gotya") - the audio is clearly discernible and the volume control has a good range - the "Call" button produces an appropriate sound and loudness - we only need one frequency channel, but it's nice to have 9 more for any future plans - it has "MON [ITOR]" and "GRO [UP]" buttons, features we don't need but again it's nice to have for any future plans We recently received it so I can't speak to it's longevity, battery life, or range, but I'm guessing those won't be problems. It looks and feels well made with a simple, clean styling. For me it was a great choice.

**Q: Why can't the signal range of these intercoms reach 1 Mile?**
A: 1 Mile (5280ft) signal range is tested in the open area, the realy signal range in antual use may less for obstacles in the circumstance. please note it and put the intercom system in the rgiht place for better signal range.

**Q: Why can't the intercom talk to another intercom**
A: Are both intercoms set to the same channel and code? Please make sure they are properly set up and that you’ve waited until the other user has finished talking.

**Q: Can this home intercom be used outdoors?**

These handheld intercoms have been a total life saver for us. My elderly and disabled mother lives with us and I was having to constantly check in on her to see if she needed anything. Now all she has to do is hit the call button and it will beep the other handhelds throughout the house. Therefore, I can go about my day doing what I need to and don't have to check on her constantly. She let's me know when she needs me. I can even go out into our yard and carry a handheld with me and it will beep even out in our large yard. Also, and this is the biggie, my sister lives across the street from me (we live in an older neighborhood with large yards and large wide streets) and I can go over to her house with a handheld and it will still beep me if my mom needs anything. That's right - it will reach that far!! When I need to run errands, I leave a handheld with my sister and she can go over to my house when Mom needs something. But be forewarned, just as you sit down in your recliner and lean back and get comfortable, that dang beeper will start beeping at you! LOL!
