The plastic piece that held in the metal teeth just fell out.** A: Don't know if there's a warranty. They do not sell retail, but the manufacturer is Coastal Pet Products and this item can be seen on their website atwww.coastalpet.com/products/product/sdg24.aspx **Q: how long are the teeth?** A: There are two rows of teeth. The shorter are 5/8 " and the longer are 7/8 ". Hope that is helpful ;-) **Q: Will this work for a short haired german shep?** A: This rake is designed for medium coats and breeds with an undercoat. With two dogs (our other one is a lab mix) we have to vacuum our house at least every other day to keep up with the endless amounts of dog fur coating the floors. IT'S EVERYWHERE! I decided to try this one based on the reviews and am SO glad I did.It arrived today and both my seven-year-old and I were eager to try it out on the dogs. The Evolution took enough fur off of the lab alone to fill an ice cooler. I can't believe how much came off of her. I probably could have spent an half an hour brushing her, I was so amazed at how much fur it cleaned away.It was so easy to use and the fur is so incredibly easy to clean off the brush, unlike the old brush we had. It is a gentle and effective way to take of layers and layers of loose fur. Affordable, effective, and comforting to our dogs (when used gently...those teeth are pretty sharp), this is the best purchase I have ever made for them. He doesn't really shed, but in the Spring he loses some of his winter fur and if I don't stay on top of the brushing, it forms mats. Most brushes for cats don't penetrate the coat, it just smoothes the top layer, and while I do have the grooming brushes that thin the coat, I only use them in the Spring when he's losing his Winter coat.This brush is perfect. It penetrates his coat and massages his skin. It pulls out any loose hairs and tangles but doesn't thin the coat -- which is what I want. Why get a pet with really plush fur and then spend all your time trying to thin it out?
