What is the best band weight to buy?** A: The company site stats the purple band for you weight and amount of pullups unassisted(if a handful is 5-10), when you buy the item on Amazon they have a page with what band works for you. Some foam handle easy to crack.** A: This one won't, the foam on his handle is ripstop and very durable, waterproof and sweatproof. **Q: What should I expect from these bands for 8 bucks?** A: I'm not sure which band in $8, but to answer your basic question: These bands offer assistance while doing pull ups and there are many YouTube vids available demonstrating their use. One of the illustrations on the Amazon page is a chart where you plot your body weight and number of pullups you can currently do now and it will advise the appropriate band to purchase. The goal, obviously, is to do pull ups withOUT any bands (and there are some fitness gurus who say start with a low bar and do modified australian pull ups and not to use the bands at all) but the advantage as I see it is that you can work the entire range of motion and activate the muscle chains required (and stay motivated since you are now able to do more pullups). I will purchase again and also recommend to my friends. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for winter workouts, warming up, joint exercises, and double-jointed/hypermobile elbows. *by N***S on October 17, 2019* I've been doing bodyweight workouts for a while, and rings were my most recent investment before this red band. (NOTE: This order only brings you the red band. I also ordered the purple one separately.) I wasn't going to be able to use the rings during the winter, and I don't have either a gym membership or a fancy at-home gym—the red (and purple) band(s) were going to be part of my winter workout solution. Two Youtube fitness instructors, Bruce Willow and AlphaDestiny, gave me multiple reasons for this lightest band. Willow noted that the red band is great for training joints and smaller muscle groups: triceps, biceps, shoulders, upper back, and even pecs a bit. My back has always felt difficult to warm up and train, but I could already feel a lot of blood flow and tension after my first use of the red band. I also have slightly hypermobile elbows, so full extension usually leads to discomfort. AlphaDestiny has very hypermobile elbows and said that using this red band to develop connective tissue work had helped him to overcome the limitations of his hypermobility. Thus far, my elbows have felt fine—might take a few more weeks to testify to real potential of it, though, for that use. Essentially, this band sort of killed 4–5 birds with one stone: it expanded the possibilities for my winter routines, it's great for joint and back work (the former for all fitness levels, the latter for beginner and intermediate folk), it's great for warming up, it seems to be benefitting my hypermobile elbows, and it's easy to take on travels! If the band breaks anytime soon, I'll try to post an update or edit this post.
