I like that the prep knives lay on their sides in the block, I think that protects the blades better. The steak knives fit in vertically, but I just put them in upside down so they don't rest on the cutting edge. I don't like how close the honing rod is to the bread knife right below it, but that's not too big of a deal. The knives and block look beautiful on my counter, and everything seems to be great quality. I am glad I bought this and am considering buying one for my daughter. I have no cons to it at all. I use the honing rod probably every other time I use the big chef knives, and they're still as sharp and beautiful as the first day I got them.
