I always make at least two different pies when I bake. You are sooo gonna love these!!! Heck I finally have somewhere to put my buttermilk biscuits to store them once their cooled off. I’m already thinking of so many uses. Will it keep a pie from getting freezer burned?** A: It snaps shut, but not so tight that I would use it to freeze a pie. I put a paper towel on top so that it would absorb any moisture and not go back down onto the crust. It worked perfect. **Q: If the hinge breaks will the lid still snap on to the bottom half?** A: The plastic is very durable and firm. I would think that the top cover will hold in place with the bottom portion. I can't imagine the hinge tearing off. I have used this carrier to transport many pies without any damage. I even used this carrier transport a pie on the aircraft without any problems. Not five because they are MUCH larger than they look (the pie pictured must be five inches tall), and they tend to open when squeezed at all. However, the bottom is close enough to a universal pie plate's size that it keeps the pies from moving around too much. I brought two strawberry cheesecakes 150 miles sitting on the floor of my truck and they were fine when I arrived.
