I was glad that they did not have a strong smell as I am very sensitive to things. I still left them out just to make sure but I don't think there was a need to leave them out. And they fit really well with full coverage! I have not put the rear ones and yet I will probably trim those slightly. I like that they aren't a hard plastic, I hate the hard plastic where you get in and you just start to slide these have just enough grip. The only reason that I only gave it a four is because the molded part that is supposed to hold the water in doesn't really stay perfectly since the mat is more flexible. I do like the flexible mat but I do wish that tall or molded part was a little more stiff. But all in all I would definitely get them again!
