THAT IS NOT THE CASE. There's a volume button on the speaker that you can turn up, it resets to 50% each time you turn the speaker on. You can also increase the phones volume on top of the speaker's volume. This speaker is so loud it vibrates itself off the table. I can also turn it up while I'm in the shower to the point that it drowns out the shower itself and I can't hear anything but the speaker.The battery life is also incredible. I play my speaker all day long and it seems like I only have to charge it once a day. I'm very happy with this purchase.
