Nothing about them screams "time to poop" except their function which for me is perfect. They are very substantial and well made, easy to open and close. One of mine is a little tight but I imagine it will loosen up in time. Better too tight than too loose, the screws that is. (You see I made a potty joke for you.) There are a few drawbacks depending on your needs. This is not a step ladder and cannot be used by children. The listing shows its only other use, as a guitar foot stand. It is for the purpose of older children and adults to go poo, nothing else. Since they work independently, they can take a minute to get used to. You should never put your feet onto them before being fully seated. If any sliding is a problem, get grip strips for the bottom. Personally I like that I can move my feet and would not want a no slip bottom. My only complaint is how some people mentioned how great they are/would be for travel. My husband and I travel often and are not big packers. I could go to Italy for 3 weeks with a carry-on. No one in Rome saw you wear that dress in Florence. If your friends or family care to make comments, don't show them your travel photos. For me, they are compact enough BUT they are way too heavy for travel unless it's a road trip.
