Review: Bright, Easy to Set Up, and a Solid Smart Bulb for the Price - The Tapo L530E Smart Bulb is a good all-round smart bulb that is quick to set up and easy to use. Installation was straightforward, brightness is strong, and it works well for both everyday lighting and coloured scenes. It is a simple product to get running without much effort, which makes it a good option for anyone wanting smart lighting without a complicated setup process. The bulb itself has a fairly standard build quality for this category, but it feels perfectly acceptable in normal use. Performance is good, and it does what you would expect from a multicolour smart bulb at this price point. Integration with Home Assistant is also a plus, adding a bit more flexibility for users with an existing smart home setup. The main limitation is that it does not support Matter or Zigbee, so that may matter if you are specifically looking for broader cross-platform standards or local protocol options. That said, it is not locked entirely into the TP-Link ecosystem, so for many users this will not be a dealbreaker. Overall, this is a dependable, easy-to-use smart bulb with good brightness and decent value for money, especially if Matter or Zigbee support is not essential for your setup.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be adjusted in the Alexa app or do you need a separate app ?**
A: Yes, but first you need to set up and install via the Tapo app and link to the Alexa using skills. Then you can change colour and dim via voice assistant.

**Q: Would this work on a dimmable switch?**
A: I would suggest not to use it with a dimmer switch as the current drawn would be very low so the dimmer may not work properly or may buzz. The lamp is dimmed with the Tapo app or by using Alexa to say something like "set light at 50%"

**Q: How can i get my alexa to use party theme?**
A: The Tapo App on your phone/tablet has features like party and multi colour changing options, the Tapo skill on Alexa only controls 16 standard colours and the brightness from 1 to 100% so you cannot run the music sync or other flashing options through voice control currently. You can setup timer options via Alexa as this is an Alexa feature and not a Tapo feature.

**Q: Every one here days it works fine with alexa but the reviews of the alexa skill say it's rubbish and stops working after 2 weeks. who do i believe?**
A: I’ve had my bulbs working fine with Alexa for about a month now. The bulbs change colour and switch on and off to command. I have used Alexa app to switch them on and off while away from home without any problems.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good cheap RGB light
*by L***E on 8 January 2023*

Not much to say, it does what it says it does. It is very easy to setup and use. You can set the light to any colour and brightness. You can also set a schedule to set the light at particular times of day which can be useful. There are some themes you can pick which cycle through colours and such. Make sure there is 2.4ghz wifi available near the bulb otherwise it wont work. Some pros and cons include: Pros: - Works well - Easy setup - Easy use - Looks nice and it very useful as you can turn the light on and off without the light switch - Energy efficient as expected for an LED Cons: - The app is a little slow so it takes a few seconds to launch the app and then select your light bulb and then turn it on, but nothing offensive, maybe 5 seconds in total? - Needs 2.4ghz wifi Overall, good option for anyone looking for a smart light bulb, especially great if you catch it on sale. Make sure to select the correct fitting (screw or springy poles, I don't know the name).
