On the back there are two options for input and two options for output. Those can be either guitar plugs or the typical red/white RCA plugs (left and right channel). You run your source signal (iPad, phone, cd player, etc) through the input on the back of this EQ and then run the output on the EQ to your amp, which would then be connected to your speakers. Personally, I find this extremely mobile EQ to be perfect for connecting between my iPad headphone jack (to the Behringer input on the back) and my ION Block Rocker boom box speaker which is battery operated or powered from an AC outlet. The Behringer does have to be plugged into an AC outlet in order to function. Otherwise I could use the hole system without any electricity around. Look into the ION. It is a fabulous stand alone speaker which can be found at Sams or online for around $125 to $150. And when you tweak it with the Behringer, it is a fantastic combo. **Q: I see many mention that they use this for helping hearing loss by using this unit with headphones. My question is how do you use this with headphones?** A: As another person noted, if you have a particular limited range of sound where the hearing loss is concentrated, then this can help. I have hearing loss from 1.5K to 8K but concentrated at 5k. I hook the equalizer up from the headphone jack of the TV as input and then to powered bookshelf speakers as output. But, you could easily go right to headphones instead. You would need probably two adapters. A 3.5mm male stereo plug to 2 male RCA adapter, and a 3.5 mm female stereo to 2 RCA male plugs adapter, both available on Amazon as I'm sure elsewhere. Plug the first adapter into the headphone output jack of the TV or stereo and into the RCA inputs in the equalizer, then plug the 2nd adapter into the equalizer RCA outputs. Finally plug your headphones into the female plug on the second adapter and enjoy. **Q: Can you adjust each channel (left/right) separately?** A: No you can't. Even the other functions (Low-Cut, Level) are applied to both channels simultaneously. At the extremely low price you could always get two units, one for each channel but Left and Right channels are almost always treated identically anyhow. **Q: What type of cables are required to hook this up between an amplifier and yamaha receiver?
