Review: As others have posted - not a 1 inch bulkhead received. Does not take 1 inch pipe. My fitting was 1 1/4 inch Review: Great quality and perfect fit into PVC. I won't be using the elbow piece for my setup but it seems to work ok. The tolerance between the elbow and the strainer is a bit loose for a horizontal setup (the 1/2" bulkhead kit that I also bought was perfectly fine), but as long as you have it vertical it would be fine. The strainer fits fine right into the bulkhead, which is how I will be using it. Ended up using the strainer for a sump tank connection for a 240gal Aquarium. Saved many of my fishies and even a couple shrimp from certain filter death.
