Review: First time putting a model airplane together! - I got this model to use as an example of how to patiently assemble a model with good technique! My grandson loves, loves, loves anything having to do with WWII aircraft. While visiting him last summer we bought and assembled a couple of snap together models. Well, I think mostly I put them together. I had sent him this very model kit for Christmas the year before and found out that it had been thrown out when he and his dad ran into problems. So I thought it was time for a life lesson. I learned the life lesson. Putting model planes together takes time, a dedicated space, specialized tools and supplies, and is well worth the effort! As a first time modeler I remember first being surprised by how small the pieces were. I also learned that having good tools and supplies, like glue and paint, is important to a successful build. Well, I got the job done. Sent captioned pictures of the process to my grandchild and gave the finished plane to him when he came to visit last month. I will say that perhaps my biggest problem was the size of some of the pieces. I could barely see them! But I will say that all the pieces, no matter how small, fit well. I learned some techniques that made the process easier. Seems like a good quality kit. My grandson and I were both very happy with the result, even with the mistakes and the adjustments I made to accommodate my arthritic hands! So happy with the model and the process that I got another WWII fighter, NOT 1:72 but 1:48 this time! Review: No glue in box - Thought the quality would be better for the price ## Features - Detailed model kit. - Glue and Paints not included. - Easy to follow instructions. - Kit suitable for ages 14 to adult. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0006O0690 | | Additional Features | SNS Promotion | | Age Range Description | 14+ | | Age range (description) | 14+ | | Art Craft Kit Type | Model kit | | Brand | ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS | | Brand Name | ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS | | Color | Various | | Colour | Various | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 505 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00603550021213 | | Included Components | Paint | | Item Dimensions | 14.2 x 18.1 x 5.5 centimeters | | Item Type Name | Model Kit | | Item Weight | 0.1 Kilograms | | Item dimensions L x W x H | 14.2 x 18.1 x 5.5 centimeters | | Manufacturer | Academy | | Manufacturer Part Number | 12481 | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Name | F6F-3/5 | | Model Number | 12481 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Paint Type | Oil | | Product Style | Classic | | Scale | 1:48 | | Seasons | All Seasons | | Size | Various | | Subject Character | (-) | | Theme | Vehicle | | UPC | 603550021213 763366196670 | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | ## Product Details - **Age range (description):** 14+ - **Brand:** ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS - **Colour:** Various - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 14.2 x 18.1 x 5.5 centimeters - **Theme:** Vehicle ## Images ![ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS ACA12481 Various - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41Dh5D6GF-S.jpg) ![ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS ACA12481 Various - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41TEexRF2UL.jpg) ![ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS ACA12481 Various - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41yULs-iQML.jpg) ![ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS ACA12481 Various - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41YMqU+HqhL.jpg) ![ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS ACA12481 Various - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Kmjkupi1L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First time putting a model airplane together! *by R***P on 23 August 2025* I got this model to use as an example of how to patiently assemble a model with good technique!
