Think of it like a microphone stand that you hold. Will the NTG4+ work with this - absolutely - as long as you have the correct mount to attach it to this pole. **Q: Does Røde offer a hook to attach a counterweight to the bottom of the pole?** A: No this is a hand held version. Probably not a good idea to put a counterweight on. **Q: If I wanted to use this with a rode vmp and plug it into a canon dslr t5i, what kind of cord should I buy to use with this boom pole?** A: You could use a standard microphone cable but you will need adapters for each end of the cable, in order for it to plug into Canon T5i. It’s telescopic features was not smooth and easy to use. I have just come home from a one week documentary shoot in the US and it ended up I was leaving this boom at my hotel room and used a monopod as microphone boom instead. I ran the microphone cable inside the boom and the bushings (plastic) got stuck and broke in the boom.
