Review: As a beginner, enjoying this melodion/melodica! - Nicely weighted, great sound.
Review: Great melodica for the price - Just received this today. I have a Hohner Instructor 32 that I hadn't played for a number of years because the handle broke. I fixed that last week but wanted a 37 key instrument. The M-37 was less than the current price of the Instructor 32, and it seems like a better instrument to me. The first thing I did was a side-by-side comparison. The Suzuki is a bit louder and brighter than the Hohner. The tone is clearer with less breath noise. I have read that it has more of a harmonica sound, but I would say it has a sound closer to an accordian. I mean, all melodicas sound like accordians and/or harmonicas, but this one has more of the accordian sound to me. The Hohner I would say is closer to the slightly fuzzy zound of an old harmonium. It's a little heavier, which makes it feel better made, I guess, but some people might prefer the lighter instrument.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I own a hohner alto melodica. how does the note range for this one compare to an alto?**
A: Range is F below middle C (F3) to F three octaves above middle C (F6) for a range of three octaves.

**Q: What is the length of the plastic tube that comes with it? I notice that folks frequently buy a 20.9 inch tube from the Pianica to go with this.**
A: 20 inches. I measured from the tip of the mouthpiece to the end of the connector. The end pieces are black, the tube is white. The 20.9 inch Pianica tube doesn't seem like much difference.

**Q: Has anyone checked the tuning with a tuner? Mine is mostly 5-15 points sharp and I'm considering returning and trying again. Multiple responses please**
A: I realized that mine was way sharp when I was playing along with recordings and my cello student. The entire reason I bought this was so that I could play with other musicians and also bring it to the jazz jam. Wish I would have known…..

**Q: can it connect with computer**
A: Sorry but it is not an electronic equiment, so it czn not be connected to a computer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great keywork and plenty of sound.
*by L***C on February 10, 2026*

I've had a Hohner 32 key for about 35 years that I used on occasion as a portable keyboard to scratch out some music or as a sub for an accordion sound when it was needed in some shows I did. A recent gig I did had me wanting an upgrade and this one is great. The width of the keys is the same but the white keys are longer than the Hohner which works well with my long fingers. It also projects much better and I could easily get away without using a mic in smaller settings. It is way more robust in terms of build quality than my Hohner and I look forward to the next opportunity to use it performing. Great case that came with it too.
