He put everything in my mouth before that and play doh is not edible. Even with me right there, he was very quick and I didn't want to chance it. I would also say unless they are a very smart 16 month old, the objects would be a little hard to use. Even at 2, I had too help with a few of them. He got the scissors quickly but the rolling pin he kept shoving the play doh into the ends. **Q: Is this nontoxic?** A: Play-Doh is non-toxic. **Q: Is it fun for a 3 or 4 year old? So far I only see reviews from people with kids under 2.** A: I purchased for an almost 3 year old and she LOVED it and still continues to play with it and created fun things. Ausstecher, Schere, Plastikmesser etc. Die Knete sollte nach dem Spielen immer wieder in die Dosen gesteckt werden, damit sie nicht hart wird und dann kann alles wieder in die tolle Aufbewahrungstasche.
