Just wish they'd add a "roast date" to the packaging. *by J***Y on April 28, 2016* This is a nice, pre-roasted coffee. It says dark roast, and it really is. I'd have to say it's a bit too dark for my personal taste, but that's not a complaint, just an observation. I was surprised that there wasn't a nice strong fresh coffee smell when I first opened the bag . . . the beans were very oily, but that comes from such a dark roast, generally. They say if you want to taste the region the coffee is from, do a medium roast, if you want to taste the roast, go dark. But, as dark roasts go - this has a nice flavor - with just a hint of acidity at the end, which frankly surprised me. As a home coffee roaster I find that the more acidic taste diminishes with the darker roast - this was a pleasant surprise for me . . . I like that feature in a coffee. This seems to be a fairly fresh roast - but, this is the only reason I'm not giving this coffee a full 5-star rating . . . I really do want to know when my coffee was roasted - and, adding the roast date to the bag would make me much happier. The packaging is beautiful - and it came nicely vacuum packed. If you're going to give someone coffee as a gift, this would be a nice gift to give.This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review. I am a tough sale on pre-roasted coffee . . . I don't often like them nearly as much as my home roasted beans - but, this one really does pass the taste quality test for me!
