I've had this pillow for 5 or so years now and am planning to replace it with the same. My chiropractor had these in his office and offered a free trial. It does take a little bit of adjustment/getting used to, but waking up with a blazing headache has practically ceased. I used to wake up with them two to three days per week and now if I'm unlucky, once per month. For me, this pillow has been a godsend. **Q: is this pillow so firm that when sleeping on your side your ear begins to throb?** A: Yes. The support is very good, and firm. However, as a side sleeper, yes this pillow causes ear pain. And, for me I started to develop something like callous on the center of the outer part of my ears. The skin became very irritated and started to peel. That went on for nearly a year. I kept using the pillow because it provided very good support and let me sleep well, better than other cervical pillows I have used. Eventually I became used to the ear problem, and now I rarely get irritation. The maker of this pillow really needs to address the irritation problem. I think that a softer thin layer over the firm support material could help, by allowing the ear to rest into a softer thin layer, while the firmer support does it's job. I've had this pillow since 2018. I want a new pillow. I am looking at other newer pillows that may not irritate my ears. **Q: how long do they last?** A: Not sure how long they last yet. I've only had it for about a month. It seems to be very well made, and I expect it to last at least as long as a normal pillow. The fill is dense, and seems like it won't clump up as fast as a normal pillow. **Q: I am a side-sleeper. Sometimes my ears hurt after a night of sleeping on them. Does the trapezoid indentation prevent this from happening?** A: The trapezoid indentation is so low, that I'm unable to place my head in the indentation without my head tilting in an awkward / downward angle. The instructions to the pillow indicate that the areas to the left and right of the indentation are used for side sleeping. I've found these areas are unusally firm and my ears become sensitive after several hours of sleeping on these areas. The only downside would be that you might have to buy a large pillowcase for it, but so what? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally, the perfect pillow for this back sleeper!!!! *by S***L on 31 July 2016* I was wary of buying another pillow after years of only being able to tolerate NeckBone pillows, and even they were never quite supportive enough. I've been a back sleeper since childhood, and I require something firm under my neck and little-to-nothing under my head. I've become disenchanted with the NeckBone pillows, as the manufacturing changed years ago, leaving the quality iffy, but every other pillow I've tried has been useless. I researched many options for "cervical" pillows, and, after looking carefully at some very expensive brands, decided to try this (relatively) inexpensive Tri-Core pillow. The shape seemed perfect for my needs: support that firmly cradles my neck, a depression for my head to fit into, and side bolsters to keep my head from falling to one side or the other. It LOOKED like it would work... And I am happy to say that it is AMAZING! I slept comfortably with it the very first night I used it, with no breaking-in period, no soreness or stiff neck the next day, just refreshing rest. I didn't have to wake up and reposition the pillow at all, I didn't have to adjust the stuffing, I just put the thicker bolster under my neck (I like more support), put my head in the little divot in the middle, and rested in comfort all night. I've also tried a bit of side-sleeping (not my favored position), and was very happy with the way the pillow handled support on my side as well -- I could still breathe instead of having a face full of stuffing. I waited until I'd used the pillow a decent amount of time before writing the review, and after twelve nights I can safely say that I LOVE THIS PILLOW! By the way, since I'm always seeing reviews from folks who say they got the items for free or at a discount for their "unbiased" review, let me state this unequivocally: I paid FULL PRICE on Amazon for this pillow, I got NO DISCOUNT and NO PERKS to write this. I am just that ECSTATIC to find a pillow that works for me!
