The gold coloured lining extends beyond the 11.4 cm length by a further 2.5 cm as it folds over when the flap of the pouch is closed. I recommend this pouch. It's excellent and does a great job. **Q: My car doesnt unlock wirh the keys inside the pouch, but once inside, the car starts. Are these pouches defective?** A: Once you take it out of pouch to open your car you have activated the ignition. There is a time lapse depending on your make model. On my Honda if you leave for 10 mins after opening car,it won't start. But if I open car put back in pouch and try to start straight away it will start. So the answer depends on your make and how long ignition remains active. **Q: Do these still work after several months of use, not just a couple of weeks ?** A: In my experience, a few months yes, a year no. I was surprised to see my wife unlocking the car whilst the key fob was still within the sealed pouch - on further tests the pouch is no longer blocking the signals, though it appears to be in perfect condition.
