I thought this was supposed to prevent that. At home he wears the wrist strap so as no to drop it. Great idea. He was at a friends house and it supposedly dropped from the sofa to the carpeted floor. When he went to use it, the screen shattered in his hand. If I saw this with my own eyes, I would give it a 1 star based on this. I paid way more for this than a competing product so I wanted something bomb proof. I have since replaced the screen so we will see if we have better luck. On a positive note, at first my son thought the it might be too bulky and would not like it, but instead he likes it because others think it is a iPhone. Once replacing screen, everything survived. It is now about 5 months later and the iPod has not had any problems. The otterbox will need to be replace though. My son has a reputation for being rough on things so a normal person probably would be happy with it. My son's otterbox is starting to fall apart so I will need another one. Update December 2015. The case basically fell apart so I contacted customer support and they replaced it without any problems. Back to 5 stars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Case You Can Get For Your Ipod Touch 5th Gen *by N***E on 18 August 2015* Amazing Quality Case, Much Much better then my old case Pros: *all buttons work perfectly with it, Home, Volume and Power *screen protector is crystal clear and doesn't stick to the actual ipod screen *access ports around lightning port and headphone jack are much easier to open and fit my Sony XB400 headphones and Anker lightning cable fine. *open hole for the camera lense to allow pictures to turn out much clearer *Great 3 piece design, Very Well Protected for Ipod Cons: Sometimes screen functions don't work through the built in protector, takes a few tries. (any screen protector will have this problem though) Not Waterproof (But I knew this when buying it) I can just buy a clear waterproof bag to put the otterbox case in to fix that Other Note: I really wanted the Black one but it was out of stock at the normal price so what I did was buy the grey/white one and used a black permanent marker to black out the front white cover. Be sure to use a piece of paper along the edge of the screen protector so you don't get ink on it as you work your way around it with the marker.
