I grew up the child of a luthier so it was a little easier for me probably, but anyway the saddle has enough height to do any type setup you like. The top is somewhat pre sanded the correct direction to accommodate correct intonation of most Martin upper end guitars , (I’m not above a cheap Martin, I just have no experience with them). I had to take a little more off but not much to get it to play in tune. ( helpful tip if string plays sharp file or sand top towards pins, if flat remove material on top towards headstock). Use rule with 32nds inch, check work against old saddle string up and set neck relief, then play some mean bluegrass baby.
