You can dig into what  is typically wrong with Elm327 V2.1--very hard to get the genuine, complete, Elm327. So if this works for you great, perhaps worth the price, I opted for another unit with money back guarantee. Yes, before I split the unit open to figure out the chips, I could have sent it back. It's just a display artifact now--using the "torque" application I got multiple disconnects in the few minutes I tested it. I want a unit that can be connect without disconnect issues...
