It's not particularly hard to use but you don't want to be doing it the first time in an emergency. I put it up and climbed up the ladder and then back down it. Was a bit nerve wracking but it felt sturdy. It did leave marks on the plasterboard inside the house under the windowsill but quite frankly who cares if I'm alive! Happy with this product Review: Fine ladder - WE bought this in case of an emergency in our home. Not tested yet but we think it will be fine. ## Features - READY FOR WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST: Firechief’s UK-approved fire equipment is there to help you in that crucial moment when you need a reliable, easy to use and instantly effective solution for a safe escape. Use this 2 storey fire escape ladder to make an emergency exit through an upstairs window to avoid the risk of using stairs in the event of a fire. - WIDE ANTI-SLIP RUNGS FOR SAFE DESCENT: This escape ladder features ultra-wide rungs measuring 300mm wide to make the ladder more stable, specifically designed for ease of use when descending on the outside of a building. This is to ensure a good grip for your feet at a time when your stability is of the utmost importance as you safely exit. - QUICK TO DEPLOY: Check the 2-storey fire escape ladder fits your window by placing the extra-large window hooks over your windowsill to ensure the correct clearance. Store it close to the escape window in its box, to be easily accessible. In the event of a fire, fix the hooks of the ladder over the windowsill with the ladder on the outside, then undo the Velcro strap to release the ladder. It takes a max weight of 450kg, enabling around three people to use the ladder at a time. - EASY TO USE, TANGLE-FREE DESIGN: A fire escape ladder is a must-have for multi-storey homes. Packaged in an easy-to-store box, the fire-resistant rope ladder has a tangle-free design, so in the event of an emergency, you can quickly set up the escape ladder on a windowsill. Ensure you check for obstacles below before releasing the velcro strap to lower the ladder rungs down the outside wall of your home. - HELPING YOU MITIGATE FIRE RISKS SINCE 1963: We want to make the world a safer place with our effective fire safety equipment. Although we recommend taking your ladder out of its packaging and testing the hooks on your chosen escape window ahead of time, we would not recommend deploying the ladder ahead of an emergency. The ladder itself has been packed in such a way that it will fully deploy the first time, and if it has been repacked, it may not deploy properly. **Q: 3 storey means nothing, what length is it in metres!** A: The 3-storey ladder is 7.30m long. **Q: Does it have standoffs or stabilizers?** A: This ladder has a set of hooks designed to secure it over a windowsill, with 2 contact points on the inside and on the outside of the window. This helps to stabilise the ladder on the windowsill. Other than the hooks, this ladder does not have any stabilisers. **Q: Can if fit listed buildings?** A: This ladder is designed to work with standard-size windowsills in UK properties. Listed buildings are more likely to have non-standard window sizes, so you would definitely need to check the dimensions of your chosen escape window if you live in a listed building. The key measurement is the sill depth of the window, which can be up to a maximum of 34cm to work with this ladder. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems sturdy and well built, hope I never have to use it for real! *by H***D on 8 June 2026* The instructions say its just for one time use but I think it's definitely a good idea to deploy the ladder and get familiar with it just in case!
