That being said I successfully made 8 flares with this tool on hard heavy hydraulic line with no issues. It will mare the tube some at the clamp because of the design but it was purely cosmetic. I honestly didn't expect it to do as well as it did based off the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Make sure your ends are square and clean and you will be fine. I wouldn't expect it to do well on anything harder then mild steel not stainless for sure. Review: Useless tool - This tool is so poorly finished that it is useless. I only tried to use it on one setting for one application, but it fits together so badly that it is unable to hold the line. They had the foresight to add some texture inside the holes, but it doesn't matter when the tool still fits together so loosely that it still doesn't grasp the lines. What you have here is a very imprecise tool that you need to work on a precision part.
