Previously I used a different style filter where the filter sits in a screw on external housing. I got tired of fighting to unscrew that housing which seemed to get a little harder every time. This new style is more expensive to replace but far easier, just shut off the water supply to the filter, turn the housing and it releases. Put the new one in, turn until it snaps into place, turn the water back on and run for 5 minutes. That's it. It's good for 6 months.
